From Housing to Health: Building a Stronger Community Together

BAAHSC and Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal Successfully Host Their First Community Workshop

On June 27, the Bay Area Affordable Housing Service Center (BAAHSC) successfully hosted its Affordable Housing Workshop for Low-Income Families and Seniors, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from the community. More than 100 community members registered for the event, demonstrating the growing demand for reliable information on affordable housing, healthcare benefits, and community resources.

This workshop also marked an important milestone for BAAHSC. Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal joined us for the first time as a community partner, working alongside BAAHSC to provide residents with comprehensive housing and healthcare resources. Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to help more individuals and families better understand the public benefits and support services available to them, ultimately reducing financial burdens and improving quality of life.

Throughout the workshop, both in-person and virtual participants actively engaged with the presenters. Attendees asked thoughtful questions about affordable housing eligibility, senior housing opportunities, Medi-Cal benefits, application procedures, and real-life housing scenarios. The enthusiasm and participation exceeded our expectations. To ensure that as many questions as possible could be addressed, our speakers and staff extended the Q&A session by nearly one additional hour beyond the scheduled program. The lively discussion reflected the community's strong interest in trustworthy housing information and personalized guidance.

Following the event, we received a great deal of positive feedback from participants. Many shared that the workshop was both informative and practical, giving them a clearer understanding of available housing opportunities, healthcare benefits, and community resources while increasing their confidence in navigating the application process. Participants also expressed their hope that BAAHSC will continue offering both virtual and in-person educational workshops covering topics related to affordable housing, healthcare, public benefits, and other essential community resources.

To thank attendees for their participation, we also hosted a raffle drawing at the conclusion of the event. Three participants were selected to receive a complimentary one-on-one consultation with the BAAHSC team. During these personalized sessions, they will have the opportunity to discuss their individual housing situations in greater detail and receive tailored guidance, recommendations, and resource referrals.

6月27日，幸福湾居（Bay Area Affordable Housing Service Center，BAAHSC）成功举办了“低收入家庭与长者可负担住房专题讲座”，吸引了100余位社区居民报名参与。活动现场气氛热烈，充分展现了社区居民对于可负担住房、医疗福利及社区资源的高度关注与迫切需求。

本次活动也迎来了幸福湾居发展历程中的一个重要里程碑。Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal（安森蓝十字健保公司）首次作为首席赞助商（Premier Sponsor）及社区合作伙伴参与幸福湾居举办的公益活动。 双方携手整合住房与医疗资源，希望通过专业的资讯分享和社区教育，帮助更多居民了解可申请的住房、医疗及公共福利项目，降低生活压力，提升整体生活品质。

活动围绕可负担住房申请、长者住房资源、Medi-Cal 医疗福利及社区支持项目等主题展开。幸福湾居团队详细介绍了湾区低收入住房资源、申请流程、资格要求以及常见申请误区；Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal 则重点分享了 Medi-Cal 医疗保障、免费交通服务、社区资源转介等多项惠民福利，帮助居民更加全面地了解可利用的公共资源。

讲座过程中，无论是现场还是线上参与者，都积极参与互动，围绕低收入住房申请资格、等候名单、长者住房选择、Medi-Cal 福利内容以及实际申请案例踊跃提问。由于大家交流十分热烈，原定的活动时间已无法满足居民的咨询需求，主讲人与工作人员临时决定将问答环节延长近一个小时，希望尽可能为每一位参与者答疑解惑。这份热情不仅体现了居民对专业住房资讯的高度关注，也反映出社区对于一对一咨询与指导服务的实际需求。

活动结束后，我们收到了许多积极的反馈。不少参与者表示，此次讲座内容丰富、实用性强，不仅帮助他们更加清楚地了解了可申请的住房和医疗资源，也增强了他们申请住房及公共福利项目的信心。许多居民也期待幸福湾居未来持续举办更多线上及线下公益讲座，涵盖住房、医疗、福利申请以及社区生活等更多与日常生活息息相关的主题，让更多有需要的家庭受益。

为了感谢社区居民的积极参与，本次活动还特别安排了幸运抽奖环节，共有三位参与者幸运获奖，获得由幸福湾居提供的一对一住房咨询服务。获奖者将能够结合自身情况，与我们的团队进行深入交流，获得更加个性化的住房建议、资源推荐及申请指导。
